A show curated, designed and hosted by me. This was a showcase of vintage packaging, mediums and resources designed by and for designers and artists. I have always had a fascination with old packaging, everything from beer cans to car parts. However, there has never been a show or publication focused specifically on items used by designers and artists. I was really interested in products designed for designers and how that affected the design itself in contrast to other types of vintage packaging. I had a small personal collection of these items but I needed more. Luckily the Twin Cities is home to many designers and artists who still use these items today. I was able to gather around 100 items from 10 different contributors.
I designed promotional pieces for the show, signage, a catalog, and ink tins as a thank you for the contributors. It was satisfying to see how many people came to the 1 night show and the interest it sparked within the creative community. I am still collecting traditional mediums today, so if you are cleaning out those old dusty drawers, feel free to give me a ring!
