Monica Edwards Larson is the owner and operator of Sister Black Press, a letterpress print shop located in her Minneapolis home and occasionally on the back of a bike, Sister Black (Bike) Press.
It all started with the acquisition of a Vandercook SP15 proof press and two beautiful cabinets of lead type from the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, MO. Upon the discovery of an original poem locked in the bed of the press, a black and white photograph and an apron marked S. Lillian Black...a press name was born.
I designed a logo, brand/visual style guide, woodblocks and collateral. This was a great collaboration with Monica, together we created something that communicates the origin of her press as well as her story.
